At The Bakery.....Display Cakes

One of the favorite things about my job is all the creative freedom I have.  I can make any kind, color, or type of cake I want.  It allows me to continually try new things and keeps my job fun!  Last week I needed to make a few cakes for the window display.  I used one of my favorite cake resources for inspiration and instruction.  It's called www.mycakeschool.com.  I love Melissa's style and she is continually updating her blog with new cakes and how-to videos.  That's where the ideas for these cakes came from...

Spring-Time Cake

Well...more snow is in the forecast for tomorrow and the temps have been frigid lately!  I am ready for Spring and decorating this cake made me daydream of warmer temps, green grass, and colorful flowers. Only 27 more days until Spring!!!! I can't wait!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! My hubby went above and beyond to make sure today was extra special including surprising me with beautiful flowers at work, a sweet card, and then to top it all off he cooked an amazing dinner tonight. I wish this day didn't have to end so soon. :)

Here's a peak at the Valentine cookies I made for hubby.  I can't take credit for the idea though.  Just another awesome idea I found on Pinterest. You can personalize the cookies however you like. I made a dozen cookies in all. A few of the other ones said, I love you more than... "Naps", "Sushi", and "Starbucks".



It's been an extremely busy week at work.  Monday and Tuesday were Paczki days. Then Wednesday and today were consumed by dozens and dozens of Valentine's Day cupcake, cookie, and cake orders.  Here are the cakes I made for the showcase this morning.  I tried to create a wide variety of cakes and was happy to see that they sold out by noon today.

Very Unique Birthday Cake

This is by far one of my favorite cakes I've made so far. Not because there's anything fancy about it but because of all the thought and effort that a 10 year old boy put into it.  This little boy loves to draw and so his mom suggested that he draw a {cartoon-like} picture of himself to be put on the cake.  I then copied it onto the cake and made his very special cake for his 10th birthday!  What a cool idea?!?! Have your kid create their own design for their birthday cake. I love it!
